Dustin Evans sign with Team Orian
Just today the U.S driver known as Dustin Evans, signed a contract to head over to Team Orion. While he is still with Losi this is what he had to say about the Team Orion motors:
“I am really exited to be joining Team Orion and their new line of Vortex motors and speed controllers. The Orion Vortex R10 Pro speed control has been the best speed control I have ever driven, with unmatchable brakes and a smooth power band making it one of a kind.”
Well congratulations to Dustin Evans for this great offer! We hope your happy there and do well! Keep winning those races!

Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout!

Maifield wins big!
Nestled in the Deep South, the Alabama Manufacturer Shootout packed over 400 entries into a quick three-day format with three rounds of qualifying and 45-minute main events. With drivers coming from around the world to compete, the talent pool was deep. Those making the trip for Team Associated were Ryan Maifield, Tanner Denney, Mike Paige, Derek Guidry, and Chris Pace. Other entrants included former World Champions Atsushi Hara and Mark Pavidis, along with international representation from Lee Martin and Marc Rheinard.
As qualifying began, so did the "Ryan Maifield Show." Setting the fastest times in two of the three qualifiers for both Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy, Maifield put his LRP/Reedy-powered Team Associated vehicles on pole for the two finals. Although Maifield was the star of the show, other Team Associated drivers also had standout performances including Tanner Denney, who qualified 11th in Pro Buggy and bumped up to the Pro Truggy main by cleaning house in the B Main. Also in the main events for Team Associated were Mike Paige (Pro Buggy) and Derek Guidry (Pro Truggy).
The two main events were pretty much carbon copies of each other. Maifield jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. A truly dominating performance by the newly crowned ROAR Truggy National Champion and ROAR Buggy Vice National Champion! Throughout the event, Maifield was the pace setter and in the end was over a lap ahead of the nearest competitor in both main events. Connected to the hard clay racing surface with his JConcepts Green Hybrids, and to his hands by the Airtronics M11x transmitter, Maifield's LRP-powered vehicles fueled with Sidewinder Strike fuel and Reedy batteries left the competition searching.

Frank Root wins Pro2 at SDRC grand opening!
Losi’s Frank Root made the short drive to San Diego for the Grand Opening Race at SDRC. SDRC is the newest track to grace the San Diego R/C scene, but the only indoor track in years. The track layout was fun with a long fast straight for an awesome weekend of racing.
Pro2 (Modified SC) – Franks’s Losi XXX-SCT with the TLR Tuned Kit was on point in qualifying. Frank would run the fast time in of the two rounds of qualifying, taking the TQ by over 6 seconds! The single 6-minute main started with a brief challenge from 2nd place, but Frank tightened up his lines and would pull away taking a comfortable win!

Brian Kinwald at the Desert Series
Brian Kinwald sweeps at round 2 of the Battle in the Desert Series with JConcepts. The 2nd leg of the Battle in the Desert Series took place at Competition Hobbies in Tucson, AZ. Brian Kinwald was on fire at his home track and was the driver to beat all weekend. Starting with a TQ in 2wd modified and Short Course 4x4, Kinwald put the rest of the racers on notice, to get the win you had to go through BK.
The main events got underway and BK picked up right where he left off in the 2wd modified class. His perfectly prepared B4.1 with JConcepts Blue Bar Codes proved to be too much for the rest of the field as BK ran away with the main. Topping off the winning ride was Punisher body and 6.5” rear wing.
Modified truck would be much more difficult. Staring in the back of the pack because of qualifying breakage, BK had his work cut out for him. Again, with his usual driving savvy, BK moved quickly to the front of the pack and took his 2nd well deserved win of the day. Brian’s winning T4.1 was covered with Punisher body and hooked to the track with Bar Codes in blue compound.
Trying to complete the sweep for the day, BK was prepared and ready for the Short Course 4x4 A-main. BK was on rails with his SC10 4x4 and has the truck working better than ever. Brian negotiated Short Course traffic with ease and dropped the hammer on his fresh 4x4 and crossed the finish for a modified sweep result. The “Dirtinator” has the SC10 4x4 covered with JConcepts Raptor body, Rulux 12mm Hex wheels and Bar Codes tires in green compound.
A special thanks to Competition Hobbies and all members involved with the Battle in the Desert Series.
